About a month ago, Lindsey Hortin blogged about receiving notes from her mother when she was a child. Reading her blog made me smile . . . I love to leave notes for my kids in all sorts of places, and I know it means a lot to them. In fact, every once in awhile Sam pulls me aside and whispers, “Mom, can you leave me a secret note tomorrow?”

I laugh every time he asks, for the obvious reason: If he asks for it, he knows it’s coming, and it’s not secret, right? However, I also laugh because I know he loves those love notes, and that makes me happy.

I know how my kids—and Lindsey—feel. When I was a little girl, my Grandma Heather made me a doll. The doll had pigtail loops, blue eyes, and purple (my favorite color!) accents on her dress. But the best part was the hand-embroidered message on the hem of her dress: Wherever you go, whatever you do, be happy and know that I love you.

To this day, I remember reading that to myself as a child and knowing that my grandma loved me.

So I decided to take my grandma’s message and put it on a love note for my kids. It’s actually a tag—I created it by choosing the 3-1/4" x 3-1/4" Square Tag under Cards & Tags, which you find under the New Project options. I designed the tag in black and white so I can print it on different colored card stock.

I’m going to print several of these, so I have them on hand next time Sam pulls me aside—or whenever any of my children need a quick reminder that they’re loved!
